Heyloo beauties! Already enjoying the spring sunshine and getting ready for the summer? What about your make-up routine…? Will you adjust it for the hot days that are arriving?
I am sure we are all aware of the fact that as the weather changes, our make-up routine changes: we want to look more fresh, spring/summer- like, and we don’t want too much on our face simply because it feels as if it’s melting off – lol!
Here, I am sharing with you highly recommended make-up secrets for HOT WEATHER! 🙂
Note: All products I personally use are listed at the end of each step.
Are you ready? Let’s do this!
Step 1: B A S E
The base is the moooooost important part of your make-up routine during spring and, especially, summer days. Start by applying your day-cream; however, go for a light cream, nothing too greasy or heavy on the skin. Moreover, your day-cream should contain SPF already because you don’t want to layer various products on your skin.
Then, there is the primer, which will lock the moisturizer underneath and work as a ‘glue’ for whatever is put on top of the primer to keep that from moving, melting and creasing!
Primer: Smashbox – Photo Finish
Step 2: D A R E T O B E B A R E
My personal habit during hot days is to keep my skin bare: definitely no foundation, but also no BB-cream or tinted moisturizer. I feel that this is the right time to give your skin a break, to let it breathe and to enjoy the sunshine. My skin also feels much healthier and lighter.
I do apply concealer to brighten the under-eye area, right after the primer. I feel that it does the job for me and, therefore, there is no need to put any other base product on my face.
However, if you still feel the urge of using ‘something’ to cover ‘something’ go with a BB-cream or tinted moisturizer. Unlike foundation, it is more suitable for the time of the year, it gives you some coverage and still allows your skin to breathe. This can be followed by a little amount of concealer.
Concealer: Nars – Radiant Creamy Concealer in Biscuit
Step 3: S E T I T I N P L A C E
The only powder we will be using is the setting/brightening powder to assure that the primer gets some help and the BB-cream or tinted moisturizer don’t start to crease. Moreover, it also goes towards achieving the ‘even skin-tone’ most us look for.
Setting Powder: Sephora – Bright Set
Step 4: B L U S H
If the setting powder is the only powder we will be using on the face, you might be thinking: ”Hmmm, what about the blush?” Solution: use a cream blush! Almost all brands have these blushes, which are not only appropriate for hot weather conditions, but also for dry skin and for a more natural look. Moreover, a cream blush will feel and look much nicer on the skin during summer days.
No ”cakey” cheeks please!
Cream Blush: Charlotte Tilbury – Beach Stick in Formentera
Step 5: M A T T E & W A T E R P R O O F
Try to completely avoid shimmer on the eyes; rather, keep it matte. Emphasize the crease suitable to the make-up look you want to achieve and add a natural color to the eyelid.
I would recommend minimizing eye shadows on the eyelid, and instead using waterproof eye-liner and mascara to make the eyes attractive.
Eye Shadow: Tarte – Amazonia Clay Palette or Ciate – Chloe Morello Palette
Mascara: Clinique – High Impact in Black or L’Oreal Lash Architect in Black
Step 6: L I P S
For 2017 Spring and Summer the trend is all about lip stains, matte lipsticks and sheer looks.
Lip stains are great for summer days when you want a lipbalm treatment for your lips together with a natural shade. Perfect for a no-make-up make-up look!
Then, there are matte lipsticks. Of course, the natural, nude look will remain this season, BUT the hype about and around the matte lips has gone to another level.
The entire face is soft and natural, making the pop of red stand out. Keep in mind, red can either be a soft ‘natural’ red or a bright ‘hot’ red. For each beautiful lady out there, there is a choice – always 🙂
Lip Sheer. We all know how frustrating it gets when our hair sticks to our lipgloss. Eventually, we get fed-up and tie our hair up in a pony-tail or bun… 😦 Sheer lipsticks are my personal favorite: they are amazing, as they are sheerer and glossier without the stickiness of a lipgloss. They leave your lips with a nice glow and a natural color.
Red Lip Stick: Marc Jacob – Lip Crème in 206 Dashing
Sheer Lip Stick: YSL – Tangy Mandarine
Lip Balm: Clinique – Chubby Stick
Step 7: S P R A Y I T A L L I N P L A C E
Don’t miss out on this last step, which is the setting spray. It will enhance your make-up and leave it more hydrated. Keep in mind to spray it from half your arm-length to create the mist onto your face.
Spray: Bobbi Brown – Face Mist
I hope that by revealing these secrets to you, you will have a happier, glowing and more fun Spring & Summer 🙂
Enjoy Mr. Sun beautiful ladies!
