California Girl

Hi my Travel Beautistaas,

Many of us experience various dilemmas regarding packing for vacations. You might want to take along that beautiful summer dress you just got for yourself, but actually it can be a little chilly on your destination.. There you have Mr. Dilemma!

screen-shot-2016-10-05-at-22-39-58Another issue is the quantity of clothing that many of us have hanging in our closets, which is waaaaaaay too much! This makes it all the more difficult to decide what to pack and what not, ’cause let’s be honest, we would actually love to take our entire wardrobe with us all the time :). Unfortunately, sticking to the baggage limit is unavoidable, so we have to pack smartly.

Today, I will write about and show you some of the outfits I wore while traveling in California. My trip started in Los Angeles (LA), where the weather in October is between 28-32 °C (82-89 °F), and the journey ended in San Francisco (SF), with temperatures of approximately 18-22 °C (64-72 °F). This makes it obvious that I needed both summer and fall clothing, while keeping a lid on the quantity.

Shades: D&G; Top: Ann Taylor; Striped Pants: Zara; Bag: Kate Spade

Initially, this outfit was meant to be worn with black heels – to give it a more classy look for Beverly Hills – however, I decided to switch to my Tory Burch footwear for the sake of comfort!

Smart 1. Always have a pair of comfy footwear with you that matches more than one outfit.

Necklace: Bijou-Brigitte

Smart 2. Carry that one bag in which your phone, wallet, passport, sunglass cover, lip balm, sanitiser and more of such handy stuff fits in. Moreover, choose for black, nude or grey.

Bracelet: Valentino
Earrings: Kate Spade
Footwear: Tory Burch
Top: Abercrombie & Fitch; Ripped Jeans: Zara; Footwear: Nike Women

I kept this look casual with my sporty shoes, yet kept a touch of elegance by wearing an off-shoulder top with a choker around my neck.

Smart 3. Jeans: easy to wear, easy to match with various tops! One pair of jeans can give you 2 or more outfits.

Smart 4. Don’t forget your sneakers. Are you planning to walk a lot? Nothing is more comfy than a pair of sneakers to walk in! Happy Feet 🙂

Kept switching between my shades and cap!

The weather is about change, so the outfits change too.

There is still some sunshine, no need to put away your summer dress! Just add a hoody to your summer dress and voila – there’s the twist! Perfect to enjoy the sun and avoid the cold.

Dress: Armani
Added – Hoody: Abercrombie & Fitch

Smart 5. Carry a hoody or any other kind of sweater with you that matches more than one dress – it is fashionable and it will keep you warm!

However, don’t forget to keep an eye on your dress – the wind can get ‘naughty’!

Time to head a little more towards North California…

But before that, just a short story before we move ahead – I LOST MY PHONE! The morning I landed back in NYC from SF, about to step out of the aircraft, I noticed that I didn’t have my phone with me. I looked everywhere in the aircraft together with the entire crew – no luck… I lost many of my photos of this trip, but still I was lucky that some were automatically backed up in my Cloud. The photos I did lose were mostly of the two last days of my trip. That means two outfits; however, I managed to retrieve some photos that give a good idea of the outfits. And then I re-shot some as well.

Jeans: Zara; Bag: Kate Spade; Footwear: Nine West; Cardigan: Banjo & Matilda
As you might have noticed, I have changed my footwear from classy to sporty – as we were about to explore San Francisco on a bike!

Smart 6. If your bag is too small  (in my case) for your heels or other footwear – carry a (nice) shoe-bag with you (easy to carry). U never know when you might need to change into another pair of footwear!

I had my heels on with this outfit and then after a while when we decided to bike in SF in quickly changes into my Nikes – Easypeasy!

Top: Banjo & Matilda; Mid-length Cardigan with hood: Banjo & Matilda

Dress: Karen Millen; Sweater: Banjo & Matilda; Necklace: J. Club Jewellery

Luckily, I had posted this photo on BEAUTISTAA’s Instagram, and so this is the only photo of the last day (last outfit) that I still have… -sad.

Smart 7. Don’t hesitate on taking jewellery with you. Jewellery adds that perfect fashion twist to your entire outfit – something casual can turn into classy and something sober into elegant!

Some re-shots of the outfit!

Dress underneath Banjo & Matilda sweater: Karen Millen Dress; Black Legging: Abercombie & Fitch; Footwear: Vince Camuto

These are suede ankle booths – perfect for the autumn, and I love the side details. These will be back in the Autumn Outfits due next week already!
